ON LOCATION - CHRIS ARNOLD’S SABBATICAL JOURNEY
Chris Arnold’s Fall 2022 sabbatical has concluded and focused on connecting his professional art and illustration with science, the environment, and the National Park Service. This built on previous scientific field observation experiences in the Petrified Forest, Ghost Ranch and Grand Canyon.
He seeks to continue finding a deeper connection between his field work, materials and techniques, observation-based artwork and his classroom activity. This sabbatical allowed him to complete extensive research, creative development, travel and exploration of professional practices needed to further inform a connection between science and art. This was helpful not only to his own practice [Chris Arnold Art], but will serve the academic community at Columbia College Chicago where he is an Associate Professor (Illustration). Chris looks forward to sharing his first-hand experiences with the contemporary practices and scientific field observation here with you all soon.
Update: Chris is having a solo show featuring a collection of new works from his sabbatical at the One River School this summer (2023).
